"A man can be 100% sure of something, but sometimes all it takes is one twist of fate to turn everything upside down." - Juhani Karila, Fishing for the Little Pike.

It was the May long weekend, so I managed to read something, and it was a magical novel. I picked up this book at someone's urging, perhaps a bit hesitantly. I must admit that, from those climes, I only really associate with the Moomins, and then there's a long, long gap where nothing else comes to mind.

However, it was worth it. This is one of those books where skillfully interwoven threads of folklore and local tales intertwine with universal truths such as Fate, Destiny, Friendship, and ultimately, finding one's place in this world.

So, I recommend embarking on this journey into a world that transforms into an ubiquitous swamp, where mosquitoes are just waiting for your blood.

Finally, it's worth comparing these personal impressions with the voices of other readers, so below I will quote selected opinions from the lubimyczytac.pl portal:

I was a bit disappointed with the ending of the book, but I was captivated by the world and the story presented in it. On reflection, it reminds me a bit of Prattchet's "Good Omens," but that might just be my own silly association. Recommended!

The author creates a new, fantastic world, drawing inspiration from his homeland. He looks at it with both tenderness and irony, populating it with fantastic creatures.... It reads wonderfully.

It's hard to get used to the dialect at first. Later, you start speaking it yourself. Pleasant, light, allows you to escape reality.

How to clean a mattress? Home remedies for stains, dust mites and unpleasant odours

A mattress sees more than any other piece of furniture in the house — sweat from night sweats, morning coffee drunk in bed, cat hair from a cat who stubbornly chooses the same spot for a nap. The problem is that while we change our bedding regularly, it's easy to forget about the mattress itself — until the day we notice a stain or feel that something in the bedroom smells different than it should.
