Questions about this category

Which sofa bed or corner sofa bed is best for everyday sleeping?

For everyday sleeping, choose a sofa bed with a sleeping area of at least 140 × 200 cm, a flat surface when unfolded and a filling of springs combined with high-resilience foam. At Pillovely these include the Tola sofa bed (140 × 200 cm, Bonnell springs, bedding storage), the SOSO sofa bed (149 × 200 cm) and the Bulu corner sofa bed with the Lux system (Bonnell springs, sinuous springs and high-resilience foam).

Should I choose a sofa bed or a corner sofa bed?

A sofa bed takes up less space and suits a living room of up to about 15 m², a studio flat or a guest room. A corner sofa bed gives more seating and usually a larger sleeping area but needs a wall about 2.3–2.8 m long – compact corner sofa beds up to 250 cm wide are in our Small Corner Sofa Beds collection.

Which sofa bed mechanism should I choose?

The most common is the DL mechanism: you pull the seat forward and lower the backrest, and there is usually a bedding box under the seat. An assisting automatic function helps lift and pull out the seat, so opening takes no force – a good choice if you unfold it every day – while the puma mechanism (e.g. on the Franec sofa bed) lifts the seat and moves it forward to create a flat surface.

How much space does an unfolded sofa bed or corner sofa bed take up?

Unfolded, a sofa bed or corner sofa bed usually extends 140–155 cm from the wall, and it is worth leaving about 60 cm of walkway around it. The exact unfolded dimensions are given in each product description.

Which corner sofa bed has the largest sleeping area?

The ALLORO U corner sofa bed has the largest sleeping area – 145 × 302 cm – and the OLEMO corner sofa bed an exceptionally long one – 123 × 250 cm. The ALLORO 257 cm and BALOA 276 cm corner sofa beds have a 145 × 212 cm sleeping area.

Which sofa beds and corner sofa beds have bedding storage?

Many of our sofa beds and corner sofa beds have bedding storage, including the Tola, Lily, SOSO, Zoria and ALLORO sofa beds and the Agi, Kingi, Klara, Dori and Milorya corner sofa beds. Storage is stated in the product name and description, and all corner sofas with storage are in our Corner Sofas with Storage collection.

Can I order a sofa bed or corner sofa bed in a different fabric?

Yes, we can make sofa beds and corner sofa beds in any fabric from the Pillovely range, and you can order up to 5 free fabric samples before you buy. Please note that furniture made in an individually chosen fabric cannot be returned.

Where can I see Pillovely sofa beds and corner sofa beds in person?

If you are visiting Poland, selected models and fabrics are on display in our showrooms in Wadowice and Kraków. You have 30 days to return a piece, Pillovely furniture has a 2-year warranty, and delivery terms for your country are shown at checkout.

Sofa beds and corner sofa beds – how to choose one for your living room and for everyday sleeping

This collection has 33 Pillovely sofa beds and corner sofa beds. Most have a sleeping area from 125 × 200 cm to 145 × 302 cm, and many have bedding storage. Below we answer the questions we hear most often before purchase: which sofa bed suits a small living room, which is best for everyday sleeping, and which mechanism and fabric to choose.

Sofa bed or corner sofa bed – which should I choose?

A sofa bed takes up less space and is easier to fit into a studio flat, a guest room or under a window. A corner sofa bed offers more seats and usually a larger sleeping area, but needs a free corner or a wall at least 2.3–2.8 m long.

  • Choose a sofa bed if your living room is up to about 15 m² and the sofa will be used by 2–3 people. Examples: the Tola sofa bed (sleeping area 140 × 200 cm, storage) or the Lily sofa bed (140 × 200 cm, corduroy, storage).
  • Choose a corner sofa bed if 3–5 people live in your home or you often have guests to stay. Examples: the Bamby 4 seater corner sofa bed (125 × 210 cm) or the Bulu corner sofa bed (260 cm wide).

Which corner sofa bed is best for a small living room?

A small living room is best suited to a compact 3 seater corner sofa bed about 230–250 cm wide, on legs and with narrow arms. Legs make the sofa look lighter, and narrow arms leave more room for the seat.

How do I measure my living room before buying a sofa bed?

  1. Measure the length of the wall where the sofa will stand and compare it with the width of the sofa bed or both sides of the corner sofa.
  2. Measure the distance from the wall to the coffee table or TV unit. Opened out, a sofa bed or corner sofa bed usually takes up 140–155 cm from the wall, and it is worth leaving about 60 cm of walkway around the bed.
  3. Check the width of doors, hallways and stairs – the product dimensions give the width, depth and height of each piece.
  4. Plan the chaise side so that it does not block a window or the door. If in doubt, choose a reversible model.

Which sofa bed or corner sofa bed is best for everyday sleeping?

For everyday sleeping, choose a model with a sleeping area of at least 140 × 200 cm, a flat surface when opened out and a filling that keeps its shape after months of use. Springs (bonnell or zigzag) combined with high-resilience foam work best.

  • Tola sofa bed – bonnell springs and foam, sleeping area 140 × 200 cm, bedding storage.
  • Bulu corner sofa bed – Lux system: bonnell springs, zigzag springs and high-resilience foam.
  • Lento sofa bed – assisted opening mechanism and Max-System filling.
  • SOSO sofa bed – sleeping area 149 × 200 cm and storage.

If the sofa is to replace a bed, also check that it is easy to open out with one hand – you will be doing it every day.

What sofa bed mechanisms are there and which should I choose?

  • DL – you pull the seat forward and lower the backrest. It takes a few seconds, and there is usually a storage compartment under the seat. Models with this mechanism include Tola, Lily, Agi, Dori and Bulu.
  • Assisted mechanism – the mechanism helps you lift and pull out the seat, so opening it out takes no effort and does not scratch the floor. Lento has one.
  • Puma – the seat lifts and moves forward to create a flat surface. The Franec sofa bed has it, along with an adjustable headrest.
  • Foam sofa beds – instead of a mechanism, they have foam modules or mattresses that you pull out or unfold. Example: the Kamelia foam sofa bed (200 cm). They are suited to occasional sleeping and children's rooms.

L-shaped or U-shaped corner sofa bed?

An L-shaped corner sofa bed is the most popular choice: it goes into a corner or along one wall, and the chaise marks out the relaxing area. A U-shaped corner sofa bed surrounds the coffee table on three sides and works in large living rooms where 5 or more people sit together.

  • U-shaped corner sofa bed: ALLORO U with a 145 × 302 cm sleeping area and a fully upholstered back, so it can stand in the middle of the room.
  • L-shaped corner sofa beds: Bamby, Dori, OLEMO (sleeping area 123 × 250 cm) and Puentro 4 seater.

The side is described as you stand facing the sofa: if the chaise is on the right, it is a right-hand facing corner sofa; if it is on the left, it is left-hand facing. If you are not sure of the layout, choose a reversible model such as Agi, Kingi or Klara.

Which sofa beds have storage?

Bedding storage is available in sofa beds such as Tola, Lily, Puentro, SOSO, Zoria, ALLORO and Bamby 200 × 136, and in the Dori corner sofa bed. They hold a duvet, pillows and a throw, so you do not need a separate cupboard for bedding when you sleep on the sofa every day. Storage is mentioned in the name and description of each product.

Which fabric is best if you have children or pets?

With children and pets, choose an easy-to-clean fabric that resists abrasion and snagging, ideally with a dense weave and no long loops.

  • Poso corduroy – dense, soft and hard-wearing; used on the Lily sofa bed, which is described as pet-friendly. See all corduroy sofas and armchairs.
  • Tilia – a fabric with vertical ribs and high resistance to abrasion, pilling and light; used on the Dori corner sofa bed.
  • Aragon – a water-repellent fabric that does not absorb liquids straight away; available on models such as OLEMO.

With dogs and cats, it is better to avoid fabrics with large, loose loops that claws catch on easily. Before you decide, order up to 5 free fabric samples and check the colour, texture and durability for yourself.
